What is CranioSacral Therapy?

CranioSacral Therapy (CST) was developed by Dr. John E. Upledger, an Osteopathic Physician.

The craniosacral system extends from the skull or the cranium down to the tailbone or sacrum. CranioSacral Therapy is a light-touch approach that releases tensions deep in the body to relieve pain and dysfunction and improve whole-body health and performance.

Why is CST so Important?

Few body structures have more influence over your health and well-being than your central nervous system. And few body systems have more impact on your central nervous system than, the craniosacral system - the soft tissues and fluid that protect your brain and spinal cord.

In every day life, we endure stresses and strains that our body absorbs. The body can only handle so much tension before tissues begin to tighten and potentially affect the brain and spinal cord. This in turn, can compromise the function of the central nervous system, and the performance of nearly every other system in the body.

CST releases those tensions to allow the entire body to relax and self-correct. By using a light touch, about the weight of a nickel, practitioners can evaluate your internal environment. They then use distinctive light-touch techniques to release any restrictions they find.

In freeing the CNS to perform at its best, CST naturally eliminates pain and stress, strengthens your resistance to disease, and enhances your health and well-being. Being so gentle, CST can be effective for all ages, from newborns to elders.

What to Expect from a Session

CST sessions are deeply relaxing, create feelings of warmth or gentle pulsing in the areas the therapist is working on. You remain fully clothed as you relax. Each session starts with the therapist gently touching various parts of your body to monitor the rhythm of the fluid that is flowing around your central nervous system.

By listening with their hands, they can locate areas of weak fluid flow or tissue motion. They can trace those areas of weakness through the body to the original source of dysfunction.

Then delicate manual techniques are used to release problem areas and improve the form and function of your central nervous system.

Each session can last from anywhere between 45-60 minutes. This always depends on what the body is telling the therapist. Each session can be completely different. CST can also be combined with a regular massage. Specific areas can be worked to relieve a headache etc.

CranioSacral Rate:

45-60 minute session = $90
